Diablo 4: Blizzard bans players for exploiting exploit

Diablo 4 players have been caught playing pranks. Blizzard has identified accounts that took advantage of the recent glitch and banished them to hell.
There's a lot of evil in Diablo 4, but there's also a lot of greatness in this game. For example, an exploit that allows you to transfer an Eternal character to a new seasonal realm for a short period of time.
This bug was fixed in patches prior to patch 1.1.1. However, while the glitch still exists, it sparked community debate over whether Blizzard should consider using it for bans.
Diablo 4 community manager Adam Fletcher addressed this issue on the Blue Tracker forums. "We would like to inform everyone that this issue was resolved in a hotfix a few days ago and has not occurred in the game since. We have also taken action against a number of accounts related to this incident.
Of course, it is BAN. Veterans of online gaming know that a bug that directly violates the terms of service is usually better than one that significantly alters intended gameplay.
Those unfamiliar with the online game took advantage of a recent Diablo 4 glitch that equipped their Eternal characters with seasonal items. Some even equip the new Vicious Hearts on their Eternal characters and use their effects outside of Vicious Season.
A post by a player on the Diablo 4 subreddit about a friend being banned has garnered a lot of attention in the community. "Who thought the results were different?" one user asked.
There is absolutely no empathy for the kicked player in this thread. "Intentional exploitation is prohibited in most online games," said another user. "It should."
The severity and duration of the ban is unclear at the time of writing. It's unclear if this is a complete account ban or simply removing the characters used in the exploit.
